Christmas Greetings

Been a while since the last post, so here is a jolly close-to-Christmas-update!

Between studies, work and life on the side I actually managed to finish a picture for Christmas. I just started lining as I type this. Gotta make sure I finish it before The Holidays have ended. I drew a guy to go with it LE GASP. (I barely draw them, but they're really fun to do.)

As always, working on getting better at something, and with that I'm actually making fast progress. Feels really good to say the least. I'm glad I sort of have the basics down of the human face. From here I can keep practicing for a more and more realistic look. Still have ways to go.

And here's some random lizard gal with a scyte-like dagger...something. Need to work on my posing. Burne Hogarts Dynamic Figure Drawing is a great reference for these types of things. My poses don't have a lot of motion to them yet though. That, also, will change I hope.

That's it for this update. I have a lot more to show but I can't be bothered to write any more. It's 1:30 AM and I have work tomorrow...so.

Introducing sketchpads

That's what I call them.

Lately I have been using a way to collect and compare my drawing progress in a certain way I think works rather well. I call it "sketchpads". It basically is just a file with a resolution of 3000x1500 pixels with collected studies and drawings. The purpose is to fill op at least two or three of them each month. (Mostley get to finish just two anyway)

It's cool to look back at them, and in the end you can actually see some progress. I'll post the first three pads I made here as an example:

When I first started, I wasn't sure where I was going with this. So I started with two random busts, and from that I went to arm studies towards trying out other artists facial styles, to get a feel for what makes them so appealing to most people in the end. (In this case 3 from Miles-DF and 3 from Zaush, with two self interpreted faces as well) You can see that I still have a lot to learn...

More and more got sketched, and I got a few crits here and there, so more and more was studied. Not all I did fitted in here so I had to scale some sketches down. Still have ways to go.

In this one I started with some leg studies, since there is a reason I rarely draw them. Also feet tend to be a problem for me, so I'm trying to get them down as well, until I reach a level with which I am finally comfortable of drawing them. You can also see my messed up way of drawing bodies on the right, there is no structure whatsoever. Which is something I kinda fixed at the moment, so it's easier for me to start off.

In the end it all comes down to learning, I got quite far in the last few months so for that I am actually happy. It's also important that I get the right reference material for anatomy, Luckily I have my sources.

Unfinished business.

Unfinished, and probably never will be finished.

Something that I still had up my sleeve for the last couple of months, but I feel I did so much wrong here that I simply scrapped it in the end. Especially in lightning terms, it doesn't make ANY sense at all. Ah well.

Trying to improve on this. So I took time to do a lot of studies of light and colours, and I have a few friends helping me as well that have the same goals.

Studies do matter!

Starting off...

A "hello" to everyone.

I thought it was time I started a blog with my ramblings, WIP's and daily doodles.

I will completely focus on improving the upcoming years, and I'd like to use this as a diary of sorts. I will probably Update once a week or so. Be warned though, because I will post both adult and non-adult matrial.

I figured I'd start with a few ponies I drew, which also appeared on EQdaily's front page to my excitement.

That's all I'm going to show for now, I'm hoping people will be interested in seeing my progress in the future.
